Our tamariki and whānau feel a sense of belonging at Busy Bees Terrace End, and we welcome new families in, to feel right at home
too. We offer nutritious, home-cooked meals and a huge backyard play area for our tamariki. Our teachers live locally, which supports our strong sense of community and comfortable and welcoming environment. We aim to promote the development and learning of each child, through positive partnership with parents and open communication at all times for family, tangata whenua, whānau, and
community.

Our Team

Our experienced and approachable team of kaiako create an amazing atmosphere where children feel loved, safe, and cared for. Through quality interactions, laughter, and open communication, we foster a sense of belonging and ensure each child receives tailored care and education to suit their individual age and stage of
development.

Our values guide us in supporting children's learning journeys. Through nurturing relationships, fun, integrity, and creativity, we foster an inclusive environment. Kindness, encouragement, and empathy are evident in our interactions and our kaiako promote independence, offer positive redirection, and encourage children to extend and challenge themselves.

Excursions

Regular excursions enrich the learning journey of children by strengthening their connection with their local community. Through local walks and trips, children embrace these valuable learning opportunities with excitement, fostering a sense of curiosity and a deeper appreciation for nature and the world around them.  We value the importance of hands-on learning and strive to create memorable experiences that ignite curiosity and spark a lifelong love for exploration.

Our inhouse cook provides freshly made meals for children each day using our Nourish menus and recipes, based on the New Zealand Heart Foundation Tohu Manawa Ora | Healthy Heart Award for Early Learning Centres. We believe that through nourishing food, children are fuelled to thrive physically and mentally, whilst enjoying the benefits of coming together and connecting as a group at mealtimes.

Teachers also do regular baking with the children, which provides them opportunities to engage and learn a range of food preparations skills and fine motor movements such as pouring, sifting, spooning. It is a great hands on sensory experience for children to develop independence through self-help skills, practice simple maths as they measure and count quantities.

We are committed to follow the aspirations of the New Zealand National ECE Curiculum, Te Whāriki. Te Whāriki envisages kaiako in early learning settings working in partnership with parents, whānau and community to realise this vision. The expectation is that, in their early years, children will experience a curriculum that empowers them as lifelong learners, right from their early exploration of the world around them, through to preparation for school.
